Reappointment of member of British Railways Board

Sir George Young, Secretary of State for Transport, has reappointed
Kenneth Dixon as a part-time non-executive member of the BR Board,
for two years from 1 August 1995.

The appointment was made after consultation with BR Chairman, John
Welsby.

NOTES FOR EDITORS

1. Kenneth Dixon, (65) has been a part-time member of the BR Board
since 1990, following his retirement as Chairman of Rowntree in 1989.
He is Deputy Chairman of Bass and a non executive Director of
Yorkshire Tyne Tees Television Holdings. He is also Chairman of the
Council of the University of York, a Member of the Higher Education
Quality Council, and a Council Member of the National Forum for
Management Education and of the York Archaeological Trust.
