Steven Norris, Minister for Transport in London, today announced that no emergency parking will be made available in the capital if the threatened strikes by RMT members on London's Underground take place on 1 and 4 September. This follows the low take up of emergency parking spaces during the previous strike on 25 August.
He said:
"With British Rail and London Buses operating normally, and London Underground at least maintaining the same level of service they achieved on the 25 August, there seems to be no pressing need for commuters who normally travel in to the centre by public transport to drive in."
For those who cannot make their journey by public transport and have to use their cars, there are the usual commercial car parks available throughout London.
