Sale of first rolling stock leasing company completed

Secretary of State for Transport, Sir George Young, today confirmed
that the sale of the first of the three passenger rolling stock
leasing companies had been completed. Porterbrook Leasing Company
Limited has been sold to Porterbrook Leasing Company MEBO Limited.

Notes to Editors

1.Contracts for the sale of the three companies - Porterbrook, Angel
and Eversholt were announced on 9 November 1995 (see Department of
Transport Press Notice 360 for details).

2.Sale completion for the remaining two rolling stock leasing
companies - Angel and Eversholt - is expected during the week
commencing 15 January.
