Operational note: Rail Regulator visits Scotland

John Swift QC, the Rail Regulator will be visiting Scotland from Tuesday 23 January to Thursday 25 January. During his visit there will be two opportunities to meet the media, both on Wednesday 24 January:

Correspondents are invited to meet the Regulator over a buffet lunch at the Balmoral Hotel, Princes Street, Edinburgh, at 12.30.

Photographers are invited to a photo opportunity at 14.10 at Waverley Station, where the Regulator will board a train totravel over the Forth Bridge to North Queensferry.

Over the three days the Regulator will visit Edinburgh andGlasgow, meeting representatives of ScotRail, InterCity EastCoast, Railtrack, British Transport Police, the Rail Users'Consultative Committee for Scotland, the Confederation of Scottish Local Authorities and Strathclyde Regional Council. He will end his visit on Thursday evening by addressing the Institute of Mechanical Engineers Scottish Centre.
