Roger Salmon, the Director of Passenger Franchising said today that
he intends to leave his post in the autumn.

Commenting on Mr Salmon's decision, Transport Secretary Sir
George Young said:

"Roger Salmon has informed me that he wishes to leave his post in the
autumn. I have accepted his decision with regret, although I

his successes in preparing the passenger franchises and securing
their transfer to private ownership so as to ensure better services
for travellers and better value for the taxpayer."
