Three prize-winning contemporary poems are included in the new autumn set of Poems on the Underground.
"Secret Lives" by Sian Hughes, Tracy Ryan’s "The Lesson" (an anti-pastoral) and "Potosi" by Pauline Steiner, were joint winners in the first Times Literary Supplement / Poems on the Underground poetry competition. The winning poems were selected from over 3,000 original entries on the theme of "urban life".
The three previously unpublished poems join "Under the Greenwood Tree" by Shakespeare, Pablo Neruda’s "Poetry" (lines 1-13) and "Memory of My Father" by Patrick Kavanagh in the 35th set of Poems on the Underground, which celebrates its tenth anniversary this year.
