Railtrack is spending over £1 million upgrading Bath Spa and Warminster stations as part of its £1 billion station regeneration programme.

Bath Spa, the gateway to ancient Roman city, is getting a million pound facelift. The stonework of the listed building is being cleaned and restored and work will take place on the glazed canopy roof, gutters, frames and panels as well as the restoration of the feature clock. A new public address system is being put in on the platforms and a new emergency lighting is being installed.

Over £300,000 of work has been completed at Warminster station. The station now boasts a redecorated footbridge, a refurbished roof, resurfaced platforms and additional car park and platform lighting.

Railtrack Director, Andy Hancock, said: "The travelling public who use these stations should be able to feel they are part of a caring, clean environmentally friendly organisation. The station should have the facilities to enhance the start and finish of their journeys."
