Train operators welcome the serious and constructive report by the Select
Committee into railway safety. In particular, they welcome recognition that a
comparison of the privatised network with the last three years of the
nationalised railway system "shows that the gradual reduction in most types of
incident has been maintained". Train operators will study the recommendations
