James Gordon today announced that he is retiring from his position as Director General of ATOC. James Gordon said:

'After nearly 5 years steering this exciting organisation from its inception, I feel that it is time for a change - both for the organisation and for myself personally. The industry is entering a new phase and I wish it every success. It has been an enormous privilege to serve this industry and I have been fortunate to have had such dedicated and professional staff and enjoy the support of ATOC's members.'

Commenting on James' decision, Giles Fearnley, Chairman of ATOC said:

'The rail industry owes a great debt to James who has built up the Association from scratch, developing all its service delivery functions to a high level of efficiency meeting the ever-increasing demands of the railway.

George Muir said:

'I am delighted to have the opportunity to play a key role in taking the passenger rail industry forward at this exciting time. I shall be looking to build on the excellent collaboration that passenger train operators have achieved in recent months following the Deputy Prime Minister's Summit initiatives.'
