Starting to augment their top team for the Strategic Rail Authority (SRA), Chairman Sir Alastair Morton, and Chief Executive designate Mike Grant, today announced the appointment of Julia Clarke as Director of Freight.
Sir Alastair Morton said:
"Julia Clarke is one of the best strategic thinkers in the rail industry, particularly on rail freight. She has been involved in many of the initiatives which have encouraged rail freight’s current renaissance and will be a major asset to the SRA in forward the future development of railways in Britain."
Ms Clarke is currently Director of the Rail Freight Group, which has developed into a high profile industry lobby under her leadership. Commenting on her appointment she said:
"I am delighted to be able to join the SRA to ensure that freight’s role and needs will be catered for in strategic planning."
Ms Clarke’s appointment is with effect from 1 July.
