Britain’s train operating companies today gave a warm welcome to the positive comments about the future of rail from Sir Alastair Morton, head of the Strategic Rail Authority.
"The train companies are heartened by Sir Alastair’s views on franchise renegotiations," said Giles Fearnley, Chairman of the Association of Train Operating Companies (ATOC).
"Train companies warmly welcome the added guidance on franchise renogtiations provided by Sir Alastair Morton today. Such negotiations will allow train companies leverage to further invest in the railways and that will deliver substantial improvements to its passengers. There is tremendous momentum within the railway to deliver improvements; renegotiations now will enable that to accelerate rather than stall."
