NO EVENING RUSH HOUR BAN ON GREAT EASTERN REDUCED PRICE TICKETS

First Great Eastern said today (24 September) that there was no evening restriction on the use of their 'walk on, buy on the day' Cheap Day Return tickets between Ipswich and Stratford and London Liverpool Street.
The company said that it already offered the cheapest 'walk on' rail ticket between Ipswich and the Capital. The Cheap Day return is priced at £17.90 and may be used after 0900 for outward travel but is without return restrictions. There is no need for advance purchase and tickets are not limited by quotas per train.
"We want to put the record straight as some people may believe that the decision by Anglia Railways to restrict evening travel applies to Great Eastern. We have also provided more seats from Ipswich at peak times and welcome all customers," said Theo Steel, Great Eastern's sales and marketing manager.
The company also pointed out that there is a through train every hour for most of the day in both directions between Ipswich and Stratford. From Stratford there are excellent connections with the newly opened Jubilee Line to Canary Wharf and North Greenwich - for the Millennium Dome - and soon to London Bridge and Waterloo as well as to the Docklands Light Railway, the Central Line and Silverlink train services.
