FIRST GREAT EASTERN SERVICES UNAFFECTED BY INDUSTRIAL ACTION

First Great Eastern confirmed today (15 October) that guards employed by the company had voted against taking strike action in the ballot organised by RMT.

A company spokesman said: "Great Eastern services will be unaffected by strike action called by RMT and on the days in question we will be running a normal service. We are delighted that our employees have voted against any action."

Most Great Eastern trains operate without a guard but any of the older style 'slam door' trains have a guard as do trains on the Clacton, Walton and Harwich branch lines.
