London's train operators to run special millennium services

London's train operators have confirmed they will be running services on both Millennium Eve and in the early hours of New Millennium Day.
London's commuter train companies will run a Saturday or Sunday service on New Millennium Eve with the last services arriving and departing London terminals between 2100 - 2200 hours. Long distance services will generally arrive in London between 2000 - 2100 hours. Additionally, between 0100 and 0400 hours on New Millennium Day some special services will operate to enable revellers to get home to local destinations in and around London and the Home Counties.
George Muir, Director General of ATOC said: "Train operators will use the maximum available resources to cater for the demand brought about by Millennium celebrations in London. We have worked closely with the Shadow Strategic Rail Authority, Railtrack and London Transport to ensure passengers travelling to and from Central London will benefit from the best possible integrated public transport service over this period."
Fares will be charged on all mainline services in and out of London over the Millennium period. Customers are advised to contact their individual train operators for specific travel details at this time or phone National Rail Enquiries on 08457 48 49 50.
