Responding to the Rail Regulator's draft enforcement notice Mike Grant, Chief
Executive of the Shadow Strategic Rail Authority said:

" The West Coast mainline is a vital trunk route and we urgently need answers
on the long term capacity it can provide. I am pleased with the progress that
has been made with the first stage of the upgrade, but it is important to stick
to the timescales for the critical second stage which is essential for the
strategic development of the route.

"I am disappointed that it has been necessary to take regulatory action to
secure the relevant information but I fully support the action Tom Winsor is
taking".
