The Rail Regulator, Tom Winsor, has today announced the appointment of Peter Warry to the Board of the Office of the Rail Regulator (ORR) as a non-executive director. Mr Warry is currently Chairman of Victrex PLC and a non-executive director of Kier Group PLC and of The BSS Group PLC. Prior to his current roles, Mr Warry was a director British Energy PLC where he was Chief Executive of Nuclear Electric.
Mr Warry is a chartered engineer and chartered management accountant. Aged 50, he is married with one daughter and lives in Cheltenham.
The appointment is effective from 1 November 1999 and is for one year with an extension possible by mutual agreement.
Welcoming the new appointment, Mr Winsor said "I am particularly pleased to have someone with Peter’s strong industrial background join the Board. His experience running Nuclear Electric producing strong commercial improvement in an industry where safety is absolutely paramount is especially apposite."
