Lord Macdonald, Minister for Transport, welcomed the continuing improvement in train operators' performance following today's publication of the latest performance figures by the shadow Strategic Rail Authority:

Commenting on the figures, Lord Macdonald said:

"I am delighted that the promising trend of improvement has continued, but it is still early days.

"Passengers expect good performance across the whole rail network. I am pleased that many operators have improved their performance, but I am disappointed that some continue to lag behind.

"The Government expects all train companies to redouble their efforts to improve performance further and to ensure that this welcome upturn continues through the more challenging winter months ahead."
