Changes to Anglia Railways’ local train services

  date 1 February 2001

  type Press release

There are changes to Anglia Railways’ local train services between Ipswich and Cambridge / Peterborough from Friday 2 February 2001, because of damaged points in the Chippenham Junction area, near Ely.

This will require some track replacement and associated work which may result in changes to Ipswich – Cambridge / Peterborough services for several weeks.

As a result, on Friday 2 February and Saturday 3 February, the following alternative arrangements will apply for passengers travelling between Ipswich and Cambridge / Peterborough.

Ipswich – Cambridge train services

Trains will operate between Ipswich and Bury St. Edmunds (and vice-versa), with a replacement coach service in place between Bury St. Edmunds and Cambridge (and vice-versa). The replacement coach service will call at intermediate stations between Bury and Cambridge.

Ipswich – Peterborough train services

Trains will operate between Ipswich and Bury St. Edmunds (and vice-versa), with a replacement coach service in place between Bury St. Edmunds and Ely (and vice-versa). The replacement coach service will call at intermediate stations between Bury and Ely.

Some trains will also run between Ipswich and Ely (and vice-versa). Passengers travelling to / from Peterborough should change at Ely for connecting services.

Information concerning the alternative arrangements will be available from customer service staff at Anglia Railways’ stations or via stations’ telephone help-points.
