The Association of Train Operating Companies (ATOC) today welcomed the appointment of John Robinson as Railtrack chairman.

ATOC director general, George Muir, said: "The train operators look forward to working with Mr Robinson in restoring passenger confidence in rail. His has the right background - big project orientated companies - to lead Railtrack."
