Just three weeks after the £1 Hull to London return ticket was announced the first travellers arrived on August 1st at Paragon Station to collect their tickets and take their seats on the 06:20 service to King’s Cross for the UK’s cheapest return trip to London.

The allocation of 200 tickets was made via a postal draw and staff at Hull Trains have been drawing out postcards at random on each day so that those wishing to travel in early August could be notified in good time to travel.

Travelling were Mr and Mrs Hawxwell from Dartmouth Walk, Taunton Road, Hull, Mr and Mrs Jude from Gorton Road, Willerby, Mrs Goldspink and Mrs Lythe from Burton Pidsea.

Clive Gossop, General Manager, Hull Trains says:-

“As the newest train operator in the UK we are proud to be leading the industry with the £1 promotional ticket which is design to encourage more people to use the train. We have had a fantastic response to the postal draw and hope that all everyone who has been allocated a £1 ticket will enjoy travelling with Hull Trains.”

“In addition to the interest within Hull a number of travellers are also taking advantage of the £1 offer coming up from London. This is something that we are actively encouraging as we hope to play a major part in the further development as Hull as a tourist destination.”
