Anglia Railways
25,000th customer for Crosslink!
A grandmother was overcome with joy when she won a prize for being the 25,000th customer to use Anglia Railways’ Crosslink service, which provides connections from East Anglia to the south of England.
Unbeknown to 71 year-old Eroula Ryan from Hayes in Middlesex as she boarded the train from Staines, Anglia Railways had been counting passengers using the Crosslink service since its launch in May 2000 in anticipation of lucky customer 25,000!
Mrs Ryan was rewarded with an all-expenses paid night out for herself and her husband to London’s glamorous West End. They will arrive by chauffeur to dine at a top London restaurant, after which they will enjoy a West End musical, before being chauffeured home.
Mrs Ryan said, “Although I’m a grandmother, I am full of energy and often use Anglia Railways to visit my grandchildren who are scattered all over London. The Crosslink service is a great help for me, as it only takes half an hour to get to Camden on a Sunday to go shopping. When I found out I had won an evening out I was so happy - things like this never happen to me!”
Peter Meades, Anglia Railways’ Public Relations Manager, explained: “Anglia Railways wanted to take this opportunity to give something back to the loyal customers who use our Crosslink service.”
“With over 35 per cent of Anglia Railways’ Crosslink customers over 50 years old, it provides an important service to the community with easy, worry-free connections from East Anglia to the south and vice versa without having to cross central London.”
