For Immediate Release: 12 May 2002
Jarvis, which holds responsibility for the maintenance of the track and points at Potters Bar, today made the following statement to correct speculation in some areas of the media:
“Tests and inspections of track and points in the Potters Bar area were carried out on 1st May 2002 by a Jarvis signalling maintenance team and a further visual inspection was carried out on 9th May by a regular Jarvis patrol. In both cases, these tests and inspections were carried out by full-time Jarvis employees. No sub-contracted personnel were involved.
“Each of the Jarvis staff involved is fully experienced and qualified and holds all requisite training certification. The signalling maintenance team were Jarvis operatives licensed to standards recognised by the Institute of Railway Signalling Engineers”
