Railtrack Group PLC - Poll Result
At an Extraordinary General Meeting to consider the proposed disposals of Railtrack PLC and the Group's interests in the Channel Tunnel Rail Link held on 23 July 2002, shareholders voted overwhelmingly in favour of the resolution.
97 per cent. of the votes were in favour of the resolution.
Of the 317,922,292 votes 307,918,647 were in favour of the resolution and 10,003,645 opposed the resolution. In addition 4,369,257 abstentions were received.
Commenting on the result Chairman Geoffrey Howe said;
"We are pleased that shareholders have voted so decisively to support the proposed disposals of Railtrack PLC and the Group's interests in the Channel Tunnel Rail Link.
The Board will continue to work towards realising the Company's assets and returning cash to shareholders."
