Network Rail selects Schlumbergersema as information management partner
National
Network Rail has announced that SclumbergerSema, a business unit of global technology company Schlumberger Limited, has been awarded a five year contract as Information Management Partner for Network Rail, the authority responsible for the UK’s railway network.
SchlumbergerSema will integrate with and help develop the existing Network Rail Information Management function to deliver the information solutions required to support the Network Rail business plan.
The partnership will deliver a ten-year Information Management strategy and a range of projects to rationalise, standardise and modernise the current Network Rail IT infrastructure and application architecture. This will extend the provision of consistent and accurate information and help enable it to be delivered to the right people, at the right time, so that Network Rail can manage its business more efficiently.
“We believe that SchlumbergerSema has the right mix of capabilities, depth of resources, gained in asset intensive industries, and the rail industry to add significant impetus to Network Rail’s expansive goals,” commented Iain Coucher Deputy CEO of Network Rail.
“We are committed to providing a safer and more reliable rail network for Britain and we believe that this contract will help us towards achieving that goal.”
Xavier Flinois, President of SclumbergerSema, said: "SchlumbergerSema offers the UK transport industry a unique combination of IT expertise and deep domain understanding.”
"Together with our experience in managing large complex projects, this provides us with an excellent basis on which to develop enhanced information management solutions to assist Network Rail to meet its demanding objectives."
