Maintenance work by Network Rail to repair the railway bridge at Goss Moor, on the A30 near Roche in Cornwall, is scheduled to start on Wednesday 5th March. The essential work is required to repair damage caused to the bridge superstructure by impacts from over-height vehicles. Network Rail will also take the opportunity to clean and re-paint the bridge while the scheme is carried out. The existing headroom will be maintained both during and after the work.

All work will take place overnight, usually with traffic lights in operation, to minimise disruption to motorists. Road closures will operate during the nights on four weekends from Saturday 22 March until 13 April. These will run from 18.00 on Saturday to 09.00 on Sunday and 19.00 on Sunday to 07.00 on Monday. In addition, there will be midweek closures from Monday 31 March to Friday 4 April and on Monday 7 and Tuesday 8 April. These will also run from 19.00 to 07.00 the following day.

Diversion routes have been agreed with the Highways Agency and Cornwall County Council. The railway line to Newquay will also be subject to overnight and Sunday closures to allow the project to be completed safely. The work is being carried out by Alfred McAlpine and is programmed to be complete by Easter.
