Network Rail’s exhibition last week, showed substantial public support for its regional engineering distribution centre at Whitemoor.

Peter Heubeck, Project Director, Network Rail said: “This public consultation exercise has been incredibly constructive and issues raised will be taken on board by the project team.”

Around 500 people visited the exhibition over the three days. Feedback forms show that 92% of respondents fully support or broadly support the development of the old marshalling yard. The exhibition unveiled the latest plans, including track diagrams and proposed areas of landscaping. Neighbours to the site were encouraged to visit the exhibition and talk with the project team.

Network Rail will continue to liaise closely with residents to ensure their views and concerns are taken into consideration within the planning application. The results of this invaluable consultation exercise will inform the continuing design of the site.

The planning application and supporting material will be lodged with Cambridgeshire County Council shortly. Network Rail would like to thank everyone who attended the exhibition. It was incredibly beneficial to hear people’s views on this essential proposal.
