Transport Minister Tony McNulty today announced nearly £800,000 of funding for four transport projects in Cornwall in support of Objective 1 regeneration.

The four projects are Liskeard Station Phase II, Pomsharden Partnership Project, Tintagel Economic Regeneration and St Just and Penwith Heritage Coast.

The funding, which comes through the Local Transport Plan process, is in response to a bid for supplementary funds made last year by Cornwall County Council for Objective 1 projects.

Tony McNulty said:

"This funding demonstrates our commitment to the Objective 1 programme and to supporting local transport schemes and wider regeneration.

"These four projects will bring a range of transport benefits to Cornwall and recognises the importance of improving facilities for rail, bus, boat and car users as well as pedestrians and cyclists."

Details of the projects include:

- Improvements to passenger facilities at Liskeard Station.

- Development of maritime uses, park & ride/float facilities linked to National Maritime Museum at the Ponsharden Partnership Project.

- Area-wide initiative, valued at £2.5m, designed to reverse the economic decline of Tintagel.

- Area-wide project providing an integrated package of improvements to benefit social, environmental and economic outputs for the northern part of Penwith, St Just and Penwith Heritage Coast.
