A slow speed derailment occurred at King’s Cross station at 07.00 this morning. The 07.00 King’s Cross to Glasgow GNER train derailed at low speed at around 15 miles per hour whilst leaving platform 4. The locomotive and the first carriage derailed and remained upright. Passengers were detrained onto platform 4 as the train was still in the platform.
There have been no injuries. There is damage to both the train and the track.
We are still assessing the timescale for putting this right although there will certainly be disruption to services in and out of King’s Cross for the rest of the day. An emergency timetable is in operation.
An investigation has already started into the cause of the accident with the British Transport Police and the HSE.
