London & South East

This is a tragic accident and our thoughts are with the family and friends of the nine-year-old girl who died last night (Sept 17) on the line near Moor Lane Level crossing, Staines. The investigation is at a very early stage and we are unable to speculate on how the girl came to be on the line. We are fully co-operating with the investigation, which is being carried out by the British Transport Police, the Health and Safety Executive and the Railway Inspectorate.
