Wakefield MP David Hinchliffe has backed Grand Central’s plans to move to Wakefield as part of a proposal to bring new life to Wakefield Kirkgate Station. As part of a scheme developed by the Rail Passenger Committee North Eastern England the company would move its Head Office to Wakefield Kirkgate with investment triggered from a number of sources the facilities and buildings at this station would receive much need refurbishment resulting in a more secure and welcoming environment.
Commenting on the Grand Central proposal David Hinchliffe MP stated
“I have had a long-standing concern about the under-use of Kirkgate Station and the failure to properly maintain an important and attractive building. I therefore also welcome the possibility of long overdue investment in this station, which will hopefully link closely with the Wakefield Waterfront Project”
