Hull Trains has announced that with the introduction of the summer timetable on May 24, it will run an extra daily service – bringing a total of five direct services to the capital and back every Monday to Friday.

Hull Trains, which has recently introduced a new fleet of class 170 trains, is delighted to be able to offer the additional service and the enhanced timetable that goes with it. More services will mean more trains, more choice, more flexibility and more convenience for passengers.

The new timetable is not just good news simply because there’s an extra service, but it means that a day out in London, or Hull, or from all the other destinations, is achievable in the day with time to spare; departing and returning at reasonable hour; Paul Lakin, Hull Trains’ commercial manager explained, “We are very pleased with this enhancement to our service. In particular, it is great news for business travellers – taking the first train out of Hull at 6.18 it brings passengers into London at 9.29, in good time for a morning meeting. Returning on the 13.33, passengers will be back in Hull by 16.25, with correspondingly favourable timing for passengers from other stops on the route, including the new stop at Howden."

The business community has been quick to applaud the news; Locally based, Marketing Manager, Andy Acum, welcomed the new timetable, “This really does help – time is such a precious commodity and the new service and timetable means I’ve got for time for work and family life – it’s great news.” Managing Director of London-based Westbury Consultants, Niall Hall, is equally pleased to hear the news: “I’m London based now, but I’m often travelling ‘home’ to the East Riding, mostly for business, and it’s very good news to be able to achieve this in reasonable travelling timescales; I appreciate it and so does my family.”

2004 has been a hectic year for the company, introducing new trains and a new timetable, and the pace is set to continue. The company is working hard to prepare for the introduction a brand new fleet of Class 222s trains next year and exploring more the possibility of running even more services in 2005.

Details of the new timetable can be found on the Hull Trains’ website, www.hulltrains.co.uk or by ringing Hull Trains Tickets Services & Enquiries on 01482 606 388; or National Rail Enquiries 08457 48 49 50.
