On 31 March 2004 The Office of The Rail Regulator (“ORR”) held a hearing on the application by Grand Central to introduce a new cross-Pennine rail service. A number of rail industry organisations including train operators and passenger groups were represented.

A series of follow up meetings are being held to ensure a full examination of the benefits offered by the Grand Central plan and a decision is expected in the coming weeks.
