Following the launch of Hull Trains’ new Howden service in May, the level of usage by people from the town has already surpassed the company’s expectations.
Paul Lakin, Commercial Manager - Thanking the people of Howden. With a number of the organisation’s five trains a day carrying as many as 15 people between the town and the capital, Hull Trains has been pleasantly surprised with the response from Howden’s residents and businesses.
Before the launch, Hull Trains arranged for staff to visit residents and businesses from the busy market town and even took their highly acclaimed ‘meet and greet’ service to the streets of Howden and the surrounding area.
Commenting on the news, Howden resident, John Dibnah said: “I was pleasantly surprised to see a team from Hull Trains walking around the town and visiting businesses to explain about the new services in their bright uniforms.
“I’m sure that it is this care and attention to detail that has led to Hull Trains’ new services being so successful. Having taken advantage of the service myself, I can see why it is so popular.”
Paul Kelly, Acting Manager of the Wellington Hotel in Howden, said: "Many of our customers are using the new service. In fact just recently some of our customers were saying how handy it is when their family and friends from the south of England come to visit Howden and they can just pop down the road to the station and pick them up.
"It is definitely beneficial for visitors to the area and is also great for trade."
Paul Lakin, Hull Trains’ commercial manager said: “The long-term future of the stop at Howden very much depends on how many people travel with us. I am really pleased to see that so many people are taking advantage of the 62 additional services that we have provided and I would like to thank the people of Howden for getting behind our efforts to deliver a quality service to and from the capital.”
This good news follows the recent announcement that Hull Trains has been short-listed for an award for outstanding teamwork at the equivalent of the Oscars in the rail industry in September.
