It girl and celebrity jungle star is the voice of Hull Trains’ new radio advertising campaign
Tara Palmer-TomkinsonIt Girl and star of the jungle, Tara Palmer-Tomkinson, is the new voice behind Hull Trains’ latest radio advertising campaign. The campaign is to promote Hull Trains’ Christmas shopping service from Hull to London and who better to promote shopping than the self-confessed shop-oholic, Tara Palmer- Tomkinson.
Tara, who has been in the media spotlight since her jungle antics in ITV’s 2002 “I’m a Celebrity Get me Out of Here” was the choice of Hull Trains’ Commercial Manager, Paul Lakin.
Paul commented: “Tara’s distinctive voice and light hearted touch made her the obvious choice for our Christmas radio advertising campaign. She currently has a strong media presence, which makes her voice easily identifiable to the listener.
“As an It girl who loves to shop, she is a great ambassador to promote our Christmas shopping service. At the end of the recording session she seemed to lose her concentration and her mind wandered to thoughts about a dress that she had her eye on in Prada, it was very amusing and highlighted that she was the perfect choice to promote Christmas Shopping in London.
Tara recorded a series of six radio adverts in total and in one she attempts to talk with a Hull accent, referring to many places in the city. The radio advertising campaign is another example of how Hull Trains uses high profile media celebrities to promote the city of Hull.
In another of the adverts Tara talks about Christmas shopping in Hull, and the delights of shops and boutiques in the city and surrounding areas, it shows how Hull Trains also encourages people from London to visit Hull to do their Christmas shopping, as well as vice versa.
In the adverts Tara refers to Hull Trains as “Hull planes”, highlighting the luxury and convenience of its service and the added benefits that the company keeps introducing, such as aeroplane style toothbrush and toothpaste kits, an improved menu and a light hearted puzzle game to keep passengers amused on their journey.
Paul continued: “We are continual striving for ways to improve our service and make it more enjoyable for all our passengers. The radio adverts highlight the accessibility of London for a spot of Christmas shopping and our improved service makes this possible.
“For example on a Saturday you can travel down to London at 8:29am arriving by 11:16am, and spend over eight hours in the capital, before returning on the 7:34pm service, which arrives back in Hull for 10:16pm.
“It is great that Tara agreed to be the voice of Hull Trains and I am thrilled with the final results. I do hope people will enjoy the adverts and be inspired to visit the capital in the lead up to Christmas.”
