Network Rail is continuing its work to renew the track on the line between Brough and Selby during the first three weekends in November 2004, affecting some of Hull Trains’ services. Some Hull Trains services will start and terminate their journey in Selby, though in all cases where trains may be curtailed, alternative services will be maintained to and from Hull, Brough and Howden with replacement buses.
Hull Trains will continue to run its normal scheduled timetable on Saturdays except for the final train, the 19.34 from London King’s Cross, which will terminate at Selby with buses taking passengers on to Howden, Brough and Hull; an express bus will be available at Selby to take passengers directly to Hull.
On Sundays, two southbound services and one northbound service will be affected, with buses replacing trains between Hull and Selby. Passengers should be aware that these buses will leave earlier than the normal published train services.
Hull Trains Managing Director, Mark Leving said: “It is essential that Network Rail has the opportunity to renew and maintain the railway, and whilst we have had to make provision for this in November, we are able to maintain the level of service throughout the weekend, with at least two-thirds of the weekend service operating normally. I would like to thank passengers in advance for their understanding – I know that they appreciate that a safe and efficient railway means that there will be times when engineering work will affect normal timetabling. We have made every effort to keep this to an absolute minimum.”
