Transport Commissioner renews contract
Transport for London (TfL) today announced that Bob Kiley, London's Transport Commissioner, has accepted a four year renewal of his contract, extending his term of employment at TfL to the end of 2008.
The Commissioner's salary, with effect from 1 January 2005 will be £318,000 per year, along with the potential for an additional bonus up to a maximum of £285,000 per year, dependent on delivering continued improvements to public transport in the capital.
Since his appointment in 2001, the Commissioner has overseen:
o a dramatic increase and improvement in bus services; o an unprecedented number of people shifting from car use to public transport; o the integration of London Underground into TfL; o the successful introduction of the world's largest congestion charging scheme; o a groundbreaking agreement with Government for a 5-year Investment Programme, ending decades of uncertainty over funding; and the first issue of bonds on London's financial markets to secure investment for transport improvements.
