GNER will be asking passengers to join them in observing two minutes’ silence on trains and stations along its route at midday today as a mark of respect for those killed or injured in the terrorist incidents in central London a week ago today.
The two minutes’ silence will start at 12 midday, in common with similar tributes throughout Britain and Europe.
The request for silence will be made by public address announcements on board GNER trains between London King’s Cross, Yorkshire, the North East and Scotland and at stations at the 12 stations managed by GNER along the East Coast Main Line. The GNER-controlled stations are Peterborough, Grantham, Newark, Retford, Doncaster, Wakefield Westgate, York, Darlington, Durham, Newcastle, Berwick-upon-Tweed and Dunbar.
Network Rail will be making the same request at London King’s Cross, Leeds, Edinburgh Waverley and Glasgow central stations.
