The Disabled Persons Transport Advisory Committee today launched a 12 week consultation on its draft strategy for the 2007-2012 period.
The Committee was set up by the Secretary of State for Transport to provide him with independent advice on the transport needs of disabled people.
Neil Betteridge, DPTAC Chair, said:
"The current DPTAC Strategy runs from 2005 to 2007. This new strategy will ensure that we have a clear and agreed framework describing what we plan to achieve over the next three years, with the resources that we have. I look forward to the comments of disabled people and the transport sector on our draft plans."
NOTES TO EDITORS
1. The Disabled Persons Transport Advisory Committee (DPTAC) was set up under the Transport Act of 1985 to advise Government on the transport needs of all disabled people. It has a maximum of 20 members (of whom at least half must be disabled people), representing a wide range of transport interests. Members are appointed by Ministers and are unpaid, apart from the reimbursement of expenses.
