On Wednesday 11th October 2006, Wrexham & Shropshire operated its first train between Marylebone and Wrexham, a special test train. Provided by EWS, this was aimed at testing the capabilities of Class 67 locomotives and coaches on the route, which is one rolling stock option being examined.
The train was met at Wrexham by councillors and other stakeholders who are assisting with the development of the project.
