Transcend confirmed as Crossrail programme partner

Crossrail Limited today announced that the standstill period for the Crossrail Programme Partner contract has now been completed. Transcend is confirmed as Crossrail Programme Partner and will start work on the project on Monday, 30 March 2009.
Dr Graham Plant, Programme Director said: "I am delighted to confirm Transcend's appointment as Crossrail's Programme Partner. This is an important step forward towards the construction of the railway and we warmly welcome Transcend to the Crossrail team."
Mike Nichols, Transcend Chairman said: "It is an enormous privilege for Transcend to be selected as the Programme Partner for Crossrail - the biggest transport development in the UK for many decades. I want to extend my appreciation to CRL for conducting a thorough and robust tendering process. We look forward to working seamlessly with CRL as part of a single, integrated team to ensure the successful delivery of this hugely exciting and important programme."

Notes for Editors
The short-listed tenderers for stage two of the Programme Partner tender process were:
* Legacy 3 - a joint venture between Parsons Brinckerhoff, Balfour Beatty Management and Davis Langdon
* Transcend - a joint venture between AECOM, CH2M Hill and Nichols Group.
Crossrail announced that Transcend were the preferred bidder for this contract on 11 March 2009. In accordance with OJEU regulations a minimum ten day standstill period was implemented.
Crossrail Limited is a wholly owned subsidiary of Transport for London.
