St George's Day celebrated at St Pancras International
date 23 April 2009 source HS1 Ltd type Press release
A truly unique event was held today (23 April 2009) at St Pancras International to celebrate St George's Day and the first anniversary of the opening of the station pub 'The Betjeman Arms'. The station was the venue for the World Premiere performance of a new English anthem. The event was quite a spectacle - groups of award-winning artists and musicians (including renowned theatre group Hoipolloi), London fashion students and 150 school children took part in various performances on trains and within the station culminating with the new 'English Anthem' being performed in the station for the first time. Other activities included a traditional English Hog Roast at the Betjeman Arms and the Grand Opening of the Best Beer Terrace in London.
