Over £250,000 has been invested to improve the reliability of London Midland’s fleet of Class 323 trains which run on the Cross City line in the West Midlands.
The continual review and analysis of performance data has allowed London Midland, in conjunction with Network Rail and Porterbrook Leasing (the owners of the rolling stock), to identify a series of modifications and improvements which will improve the overall reliability of the trains.
A planned programme of improvement works will now commence from London Midland’s Soho depot on all 26 Class 323 units. The upgrade regime, which consists of eight different types of improvement works, is expected to reach completion in 2014.
Neil Bamford, London Midland’s engineering director said, “I am confident this investment will lead to improvements in the overall reliability of these trains, which is great news for passengers travelling on the Cross City line”.
