Severe weather - rail industry update

Michael Roberts, Director General of the Rail Delivery Group, said: “Hundreds of rail staff have been working tirelessly throughout the day clearing debris from the tracks so services can safely resume, and keeping passengers informed.

“Many lines are now open but with reduced timetables in place. Delays are possible so customers should check the National Rail Enquiries website before they travel. A number of operators have lifted restrictions to allow tickets from today to be used tomorrow, and we advise passengers to check with their train company.

“Teams will continue to work throughout the night to clear tracks in the hope that services will be back to normal in most areas tomorrow.”
