Responding to the publication of the Passenger Focus Spring 2014 National Rail Passenger Survey, Michael Roberts, Director General of the Rail Delivery Group, which speaks on behalf of the railway, said:

“Passengers are at the heart of what we do and the rail industry knows it must keep on getting better, driving up the quality of services to respond to customers’ needs.

“While overall satisfaction remains at near record levels and scores are higher in a number of the survey’s categories, we are working hard to improve services and make every pound that passengers spend go further.”

Notes to editors

1. 82% of passengers are satisfied with their journey overall (unchanged since the Spring 2013 survey), 11% said they were neither satisfied nor dissatisfied, 7% of passengers said they were dissatisfied.

2. Since Spring 2009 overall satisfaction has consistently been 81% or higher.
