The LMS Magazine was renamed ‘Carry On’ after the Second World War had broken out in 1939.
The title continued after the war had ended in 1945, and was inherited by the new London Midland Region of British Railways when the railways were nationalised on 1 January 1948.
This was the first edition published by British Railways, and it included a detailed explanation of the new organisation.
Although the Scottish Region would soon have its own British Railways Magazine, the early editions of the LMR magazine included a reference to the Scottish Region on the front cover which reflected the former territory of the LMS in the western half of Scotland.
