The staff magazines changed only slowly after nationalisation.
The LNER Magazine appeared for the last time in December 1947, but its replacement looked similar and still covered the old LNER territory. This had now become the Eastern and North Eastern Regions in England, and the eastern half of the Scottish Region.
The western half of Scotland had been part of the LMS, and this was covered temporarily by the London Midland Region Magazine ‘Carry On’ until individual regional titles could be established.
This edition of the former LNER Magazine continued the tradition of stolid, factual articles, such as a description of the Association of Railway Rating Surveyors, which was no longer needed as a result of nationalisation.
