This issue was published towards the end of a very cold winter, during which exceptional snow had blocked roads and railways for many weeks.
The General Manager of the London Midland Region contributed a message of thanks to the staff for their work in the extreme conditions, and this was reproduced on the title page.
The London Midland Region editions also included readers’ letters, unlike some of the other Regions.
This was one of the last issues of the British Railways Magazine, because all the regional editions would be replaced by Rail News in July 1963.
