description This direct award to a state-owned company replaced the former Southeastern franchise, which had been owned by Govia.
The Govia contract was terminated after it was revealed that Southeastern had improperly retained money which should have been refunded to the Department for Transport.
This contract was to have ended on 13 October 2024, but SE Trains Limited is now a subsidiary of DfT Operator Limited (previously DfT Operator of Last Resort Holdings Limited [DOHL]).
