description
A National Rail Contract dated 10 September 2021 which started on 19 September 2021 was due to end on 20 September 2026. The core expiry date was 15 September 2024.

The first break point in this operator’s contract had been 15 September 2024. However, the Passenger Railway Services (Public Ownership) Bill had not received Royal Assent by that date, and the next expiry date for this contract had been 20 September 2026.

The government confirmed on 4 December 2024 that it expected to terminate this contract in Autumn 2025, when it would return to public ownership after the operator had been given notice of not less than twelve weeks.

Greater Anglia was nationalised on 12 October 2025, and will become part of Great British Railways in due course.
