Passenger kilometres 1934-1961

This measurement was not reported until 1934, when it began to be estimated (as ‘passenger miles’) by multiplying the total for September each year by 12.

It is now recorded in kilometres and measured regularly using computerised systems, although a single total is still published for each year (measured from April to March). Older data have been converted here to make comparisons simpler.
